Biodiversity shifts across past, present and future ecosystems

BEAM / Ngura Nandamari studies biodiversity shifts in a changing world. We investigate how species, communities and ecosystems respond to climate change, land-use change, invasive species and other human pressures across space and time.

Our research combines biogeography, ecology, environmental histories and predictive modelling to understand past ecological change, explain present-day biodiversity patterns and anticipate future ecological outcomes. By linking quantitative tools with empirical data, we aim to support conservation decisions in ecosystems increasingly shaped by novelty, uncertainty and rapid environmental change.
